"dis-BORDER-solve":

EXHIBITION DATES: Sept 9 - 29, 2006
OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday Sept 9, 2006, 6 - 8 PM
ARTISTS' TALKS: (none scheduled)

This is a group exhibit of Tucson artists in a juried exhibit interpreting the word “Borders” and/or “Dissolve”.

In Tucson, cultural borders can be experienced daily. Tucson is seen as neither purely American, nor Mexican, which solicits the question “Is a country’s border razor thin, or, is there a third area created by the union of the two? Does a border have width?"

This exhibit is a personal exploration of all our boundarie: with our bosses, our parents, school, our government, and our mates at home.  "Who moved my keys...again? Why did she ask me that question about my past when she barely knows me?" Are blame, resentment, and guilt involved with boundaries and borders? From the formalist perspective, there are borders and edges of canvas, paint, and color, wall and floor, up and down.

This exhibit kicks off Dinnerware’s 2006-2007 exhibition season! Come join us for this special event: there will also be a video short, "Mountain Hell" by Kyle Bronsdon.
