Residual Pull
Five accomplished and talented artists come together for this exhibition of video installation work at Dinnerware Contemporary Arts.
Raina Benoit explores the sense of powerlessness in a media-controlled world in her piece titled “Mediated.” Jessica Drenk demonstrates “Obsession,” as she methodically reforms paperback books into visually seductive sculptures. “Invocation: Naming the Unnamed” by Heather Green examines our society’s detachment from nature in her documentation of a small peninsula that is slated for a massive development project. “Your Wounds Will Tell You,” a mixed-media video installation by Sarah Hardesty, investigates the metaphor of wound as a portal providing the opportunity to see beyond the surfaces of our normal reality. Amy Shapiro’s video installation “Present Perfect,” creates a visual world of diversion and flirtation. (The works shown are in the order just described).
Dinnerware proudly presents strong contemporary art by young Tucson artists. View this cutting edge work in Residual Pull, an exhibition during the month of April 2005.
